Roberta Antognini
Roberta Antognini is originally from Canton Ticino in Switzerland and has a Laurea in History of Italian Language from the Università Cattolica di Milano, Italy. She is an Associate Professor and chair of the Department of Italian at Vassar College. She joined the faculty at Vassar after receiving her Ph.D. in Italian from New York University in 1997. Her main research and teaching interests lie in the Middle Ages and Renaissance literature, the history of the Italian language, autobiography, and more recently, translation practice and theory.
She is the author of a monograph on Petrarch’s letters, Il progetto autobiografico delle Familiares di Petrarca (2008), and co-editor of the collection of essays Poscritto a Giorgio Bassani. (2012). Together with Deborah Woodard and Giuseppe Leporace, she has translated the collection of poems Hospital Series by Amelia Rosselli (New York, New Directions: 2015).
She reunites with Deborah Woodward and is joined by Dario De Pasquale in the translation of Amelia Rosselli’s Obtuse Diary, which we’ll release in the fall of 2018.
